Are you meeting your LOLER obligations?
What is LOLER?
LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) are a set of legal requirements enforced by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) that aim to reduce risks to people's health and safety from lifting equipment provided for use at work.
What does LOLER do?
Generally, the regulations state that lifting equipment provided for use at work is:
- strong and stable enough for the particular use and marked to indicate safe working loads;
- positioned and installed to minimise any risks;
- used safely, ie the work is planned, organised and performed by competent people; and
- subject to ongoing thorough examination and, where appropiate, inspection by competent people.
What equipment is covered by the regulations?
Lifting equipment includes any equipment used at work for lifting and lowering loads.
Many of our products to help lift people with reduced mobility fall within these regulations when used in a care home.
How can we help?
In accordance with LOLER, we recommend our products are subject to an annual service. To help you meet your legal requirements, and be confident that you are not exposing your staff to unacceptable risk, we can perform the LOLER check for you.
Our team of trained and qualified Customer Support Engineers based around the country can visit your care home and carry out testing to ensure that your lifting equipment meets the legal requirements.
As well as testing our own products, we can also check many other pieces of equipment from other manufacturers, including hoists, bathlifts, rise and recline chairs, and beds.
