Ten-year partnership launched by Saxon Weald and Leonard Cheshire Disability
A ten-year partnership between Leonard Cheshire Disability and Saxon Weald was secured by the signing of a strategic partnership framework on 6th January 2009. The partnership combines the care and housing expertise of the respective organisations to deliver high quality homes and support services to disabled people.
The first project to come out of the partnership is six one-bed flats for physically disabled people in Hythe. This will be shortly followed by a second development in Alton of 14 one-bed flats and a shared office. Both developments are located in Hampshire.
Leonard Cheshire Disability is leading the way with innovative services that offer disabled people accommodation and support, at the heart of the community that gives them greater access to local facilities, and more choice and control over their lives.
Peter Bray, Regional Director for Leonard Cheshire Disability's South region, said: "We are very excited about moving forward this partnership that will really boost the provision of high quality, affordable supported living for disabled people in Hampshire."
He adds: "At Leonard Cheshire Disability we are committed to listening to the changing needs of disabled people and meeting their needs. We will continue to develop a range of services in Hampshire and the south that offer greater levels of choice and independence."
Richard Donnelly, Saxon Weald's Development Director, commented: "We are confident we can reap great benefits by working together and pooling our respective experience. We are delighted that in doing so we will be providing superb new homes which will support disabled people to live independently."
